George was the son of Anson and Temperance (Rogers) Goodwin
He married first Jane Pearson on 2 Apr 1833 - parents of Charles Clinton, Clara Elizabeth, Georgianna and Caroline L. Goodwin
After the death of Jane he married Hannah Elizabeth Bradbury, daughter of Benjamin Burbank and Elizabeth Heath (Lowell) Bradbury, on 16 Jul 1857
